Ok...I drilled the hole, screwed the pieces together.then slid a kreg plug into the hole. my problem is that the plug is way too long for the hole. Isn't it suppose to just slide right in and be sanded over? I can only find one size plug. What am I doing wrong?

Nothing so far, you just need to trim it before sanding. The plugs are all one size as the length of plug needed will vary dependent on the depth of the pocket. I prefer a flush trim pull saw like this:

Although you can use a chisel, router, band saw or any of several methods to trim down the excess.
Thanks, I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. I'll try that pull saw.
Mike,
You want to use a ''flush'' cutting saw---(no set in the teeth)---
the teeth are flush with the blade thickness.
A saw with a tooth set, will leave saw marks on the surface.

mike , I had the same problem, I started to trim a little off the thick end before I put them in the hole with a scrowl saw . glue, tap in and sand , works for me jim
