How many people have drilled THROUGH their KREG jig on the first use?

Just wondering how many people have drilled through the bottom of the kreg jig by forgetting to set the piece depth on the jig?

Count me in as one of those people.

(Drill sound)

"Hmmm, what is with the BLUE wood shavings?

Odd - let me drill the second hole and see if the same thing happens....

(Drill sound)

Wow, it did it again....

D'OH!"

KREG would be smart to have relief holes in the bottom of the jig so that if you make this mistake, no damage will result.

Took a while, but I did it!

I noticed mine didn't have relief holes therefore I put in not just one but two.  Totally intentional...yeah right.  I was wondering why I was getting blue plastic chips along with my wood chips.  I wonder how long it will take me to put the third hole in it. :-)

I wonder if that's covered under any kind of warranty.  Hey Kreg Rep, what do ya think?

It took me about 6 months before I was able to properly place two little holes in my jig. After accomplishing this amazing feat, I couldn't believe it took me that long before I screwed up

Setup procedures are described in the instruction manual.

If all else fails, follow the instructions.

Funny thing is I never drilled thru the base until I posted an instruction how to do it.

Now I have learned the better way -- forget the instructions and place a shim under the drill point.

I don't think this shim trick will help, you will just drill right through it. If the height or collar adjustment is set incorrectly

Use a ''nickel'' as a spacer guide---

it's chump change.

This is to good to pass up and you all now it was comeing But I got a 4 year old grand daughter who can drill with a Kregjig and my other three daughter's can setup a Kregjig with there eye's closed and they now every time you ajust your jig they put a nickel and a dime down on the plat and reajust there drill callor so rule of thum aways keep that nickel around Im not trying to be a smart &%# or anything.

thats what you are suppose to do so sawdust wont load up on jig

haha

And if you drill a hole completely thru the jig,

just push the sawdust down the hole,

into a bucket under the worktop.
