At some point though after working with 1.5" thick material I switched to 3/4"...well I switched the jig to 3/4" but forgot to move the collar on the bit. I only drilled one hole...now that I think about it I should have just ran the bit down the other two holes so if anyone looked at my jig they would think the holes were designed in.

Hi Mark - Fairly common to get blue shavings off a new jig first time it's used. Flashing from the molding process doesn't always clean off and hangs in the bit path. Not a problem, they clear out after a few holes. It's the ones where you remove the stock and there are 3/8" holes in the jig that p*** ya off.

mark fields said:…

I managed to do it the other day on my K-4. Was drilling 1 1/2" wood to frame a wall and helper reduced it down to fit in case at the end of the day. Pulled it out the next day thinking nothing has changed and I managed to drill two holes in. Cost $21 for base and shipping from Kreg. I wish they would make the clamp open wide enough 3 1/2" so I can turn a 2 x 4 sideways in the jig otherwise I love the tool. Well maybe the clamp in front instead of the rear would be nice for plywood.

David, just like both Ken and Jay said, don't worry about your spelling this is a wodworking site you are not being graded on you spelling. I have never had any problem reading any of your postings. As far as your daughters first place win it seems to me that the pupil may have become the master. That is something she should really be proud of
