Kreg Owners' Community

Hey everyone, I thought I'd let you know that all General Tools pocket hole screws and accessories are on clearance at Home Depot. I got everything in the pic below for $11! The 100 count boxes of 1¼" are down to $1.60 and the #2 square drive extensions are only $1.40. I wiped out all the screws and bought an extra extension set. YMMV (Your mileage might vary).

I too found out these General screws are not the same as Kreg's.  That's prolly why they were discontinued and placed on sale.  The heads are too small so they end up protruding the base material especially when using them on pine face frames as I am doing.

In order to use them up, I'll have to reset the locking collar on the drill and/or the torque setting on my drill driver.

FYI---

HD is blowing-out the General Tools "Dovetail Jig", model 860.

SRP $40

Blow-out price $20.

Great deal and a suitable tool for the beginner/novice wood worker,

wanting to make dovetail joints.

This is a simpler jig to use.

(NOTE:  a router is needed to perform these tasks).

Thanks, I just got the last one at my local HD. $19 and it includes the router bit. I watched the vids you posted. Looks like a great jig.

Great little jig, about the easiest one to use. I've got one of those and the Rockler version of the Porter Cable 4516. The only thing about the General jig is through dovetails look a little goofy with the rounded tails, but I just use it for half blinds anyway.

You guys have this jig and are using it?

It's a good little jig, not without it's problems though. Biggest issue is the wimply plastic clamps. It does make decent half blinds on either the table or hand held. Uses a bearing guided bit so you can use either the bit or a , IIRC, a 5/8" bushing. Look closely at the pic on the front of the instructions and you'll see that through dovetails have a rounded look. I use it on occasion but don't do many dovetails.

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
