Kreg Owners' Community

Well, I just finished my first real project using my Jig.  Don't have any pictures but...I think it looks good and, what's more important, my wife does too.  I had built a rather large entertainment center using cabinet plywood several years ago.  Used pipe clamps, dadoes, etc to get it all together.  It was adequate but it was tricky getting the clamps to keep everything square.  I didn't want my screws to show and it was interesting to say the least.  We recently bought a new flat-screen TV and I thought it would be nice to build a much smaller unit to support it by using the jig.  WOW!  I wish I had known about the Kreg jig years ago.  I had Lowes make the larger cuts on my plywood so I could get the wood in my car.  Then I finished the cutting on my table saw.  The biggest cuts were 22x44.  I finished off the edges with some good 1x2 strips.  I watched several Kreg videos to get some ideas and just set out.  I had drawn up my own plans.  When you look at the finished unit you can't see any holes.  The corners are all real tight(and square).  The shelving looks great.  Thanks Kreg for a great product.  Now I'm thinking about some more pieces I can make.  I also made a similar, smaller unit to hold my printer and the electronic stuff(cable modem, router, wireless box, etc).  I cut and put all these pieces for both units together in about six hours actual construction time.  It was so less stressful than my earlier center, which I gave to my grandson along with the heavy TV on it.

Pictures!  Pictures!!  Pictures !!!

OK.  I took a couple of pictures.  Makes me feel like I'm bragging but, here they are!

I think I messed up on the upload of pictures.  I'm trying again.  Looks like I got them this time.

For your first project you did a great job Ed , The cabinet looks good. Well done mate and thanks for sharing your pics with us.

Outstanding Ed.Before long the neighbor will want something built .

Nice work Ed, when I look back at my first efforts they are no where as good, I am sure you can see flaws in them but that is how we learn, well done

Tom

Nice job.  I just started with my first projects in the last couple weeks myself and LOVE this tool.

you need to get a camera and take picyures....

Way to go Ed, I hope that my first attempts go as good.  I'm going to try to build a twin bed with 6 drawers under it for my daughter.  She wants to help with it.  It's on You Tube & shows all of the steps in 6 videos.  I'm excited to have her show some intrest in my hobby.  All of her life I have built things for her, several of which she still has.  That part feels good.

Thanks to all for the good comments.  Also, Jens, one of my daughters has already told me she wants one like it, just a little smaller.  My wife thanked her for her interest.  She said, "Now he has another project to keep him busy a while".  Yea Kreg for a good tool!  Now I've got to wait until April so I can order one of their Rip Cut guides to make cutting big panels easier.  It's good to have some creative, productive outlet for my limited woodworking skills.

your bookcases look great . good luck you will enjoy it more than you think
