Guys.....
I've got two cedar chest I have almost complete and need to put a good finish on them and since it has been 20+ years since I finished any cedar I was wondering if anyone has any updated experience on what  kind of finish I can put on them that will not darken (as it use to in the old varnish days).  I'm looking for those home grown secrets of diluting polyurethane or hand rubbing to improve the finish and protect against aging or anything else that you have tried and had good luck with.  Any help would be greatly appreciated, as XMAS time is fast approaching.

I realize that this is an older thread, but if anyone drops by with an interest in this topic I would recommend downloading the "How to Finish Western Red Cedar" booklet from the Western Red Cedar Lumber Association. It is a free pdf download and is available here: http://www.wrcla.org/pdf/WRCLA_Guide_to_Finishing.pdf
