I use it to Japanese tape called itchibon, it is used for holding parts on paint jigs and very strong and very effective. Not sure if a search on the web would find it or not. Possibility of a Japanese industrial supply house here in the United States may carry this. My supply is running pretty short so I may be looking for some myself. I have used double-sided carpeted and it worked okay, but the Japanese tape again leave no residue. I guess there is a Rockler dealer about 150 miles away' company store is in Denver, over 300 miles. Nearest Woodcraft is 250. Probably a good thing I don't live closer, I'm dangerous enough on the internet. About a month ago the UPS guy pulled into the gas station I was at to give me a delivery, he recognized my car....

Ken Darga said:

Thanks as always for the help. Looks like the rockler tape is best buy in the long run. In a pinch maybe the sctotch brand from craft stores.

I may try the Rockler stuff next time I order from them. Don't use all that much, the roll of Duck I've got is about 8 mo old and I have a spare roll of that. I've moved to pinning the templates down with a micro pinner lately. Definitely holds better than tape but doesn't work so good on acrylic templates.

All the crafted stores sell the 3/4 by 50 inch double back tape for about $5 its scotch brand. The rockler is actually cheaper because you get 36 yds for $20. Thats 1296 inches should last along time. That equal to 4 rolls and almost 1100 inches more of the rockler tape.

IF Michael's carries it(haven't checked), you can always find a one-item 40 or50% off coupon in the Sunday paper...or check SlickDeals.net for a coupon scan. I saved $12 on my last Velcro purchase that way.
