Kreg Owners' Community

I just bought a Kreg jig and I am a little confused by the depth collar adjustment.

On one side it has marks for 1/2, 3/4, 1-1/4, 1-1/2 and the other side 5/8, 7/8, 1-1/8, 1-3/8.

I am unclear as to where to set the collar depth for the 1-1/4 and 1-1/2 as there is only one line and it is in between the 2 settings so is this setting for both depths, or if not, where do you set it for the 1-1/4 and then the 1-1/2?

Also, looking at the dpeth markings on the other side it appears that the marking for 1-1/8 is deeper that the one for the 1-1/4, and I would think that since 1-1/4 is larger than 1-1/8 than the mark for 1-1/4 would be below the 1-1/8 mark, not above it.

I appreciate any help in clearing up this confusion.

Also, what are the markings for that are up against the base of the drill guide.  I am assuming that these measurements show where the screw comes out for the different wood thickness, as it looks as if they half the width of the size of the wood.

thank you,

Steve Berto

hey steve why dont you look at Kreg Product Videos it has help alote of people on here as for my self I got a K-2 and it's only for 3/4 and I set the collar with a nickl and a dime.

Steve, the apparent discrepancy in the depth adjustment is due to the length of the screw is taken into account for the wood thickness.  The 1-1/4 and 1-1/2 are set to the same line (depth) but the 1-1/4 uses a 2" screw and the 1-1/2 uses a 2-1/2".  Similarly with the 1-1/8 being deeper than the 1-1/4, the 1-1/8 uses a screw that is 1/2" shorter than the 1-1/4 therefore the 1-1/4 depth is slightly less to compensate for the additional screw length.  Hope this clears some confusion up as I thought the same thing when I first opened up my kit.
