Brand New to woodworking and Im building some cabinets for a coworker, any advice is welcome

So here is the picture of what I designed up, the larger pieces will be 15/32" Cabinet Plywood (its what we have in stock at my Home Depot), 1x4 will be used for all the smaller trim and the kickplate as well as the support pieces.  If you have Google SketchUp you can look up Photosgt85 and download the model if you want to take a closer look.  The only thing not to scale is the sink as I have no idea what size it is.  Also, the countertops are premade ones that are in stock at my work as well.  any advice for construction is appreciated.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F3uOkMK4UqM  Larry, check out this video on Youtube, there are actually 7 parts to this series, but it's a very good intro to cabinet construction and he uses mainly pocket screws too.  Let me know if I can help.

Hi Larry, I really like your sketch up of your project , But i think you should make your face frames out of 1x 3's instead of 1x4's it will give you more room in your cabinets and drawers and probably save you a couple of dolars in the long run, I also think that you should use the face frame european hinges and the european slides for your drawers, also maybe you could sugest an under counter sink.

I only wish I could use a graphic proogram tthat well, Is that sketch up or some other program, If I can help out in any way just let me know

I agree with this ray. Actually I only use 1x3's for the top rail and 1x2's for the stiles and rest of the rails. Side mount draw slides eat up an inch of width for each drawer as it is, extra face frame material just aggravates the situation.

I agree with Ray also  1"x3" \  I also always start with building the  face frame and end with the back

Thanks for all the help, I will definitely be looking into the different rails and hinges.  As I said I work at the Home Depot so I have the luxury of pricing everything o-ut while Im working, and since I'm building it for a co-worker she can just pick up all the materials at the store and have them at the site when I arrive.  This co-worker is providing the tools as well as I live in an apartment and don't yet have any tools, so what tools should I let her know to have out.  Her father was big into tools and has almost whatever I could need, so if you list it I'll see what  he has.

Thank you for the compliments on the Sketch Up model.  If you ever want to learn a program that is the one to learn.  #1 its free from google, #2 they have plenty of tutorials on how to use it, which is also really easy.  And #3 they have a community who shares models so that you can take your design and add a shape that perhaps you cannot do yet to make your model really special.  In the picture you can see the sink, which I did not do.  I have the skill but I didnt want to invest the time into modeling something that really will have little out come on the final project.

The sink that the co-worker has now will be retained, and she is buying a prefab laminate countertop for the top of the counter, which will make my life easier, I think...

Again thanks for your input and I look forward to hear any more ideas about this.  Thanks!!
