Kreg Owners' Community

Hi everyone,

I am looking for opinions on how to attach the finished top of my Kreg bookshelf to the rest of the bookshelf. The best i can think of right now is to glue and brad nail from the underside inside the shelf. I just don't think this will be sturdy enough. The first thing people grab when they go to move furniture is the top. To me this joint should be able to support the full weight of the shelf and I don't see brads and glue doing the job. Any suggestions would be great?

Shawn this is the way I do it you see the plug hole's going up thats where I attach my tops I lay it upside down and squre it up and put in my scerws but I dont use glue on the top. hope this help's

thanks for the reply, the only reason i did not do this is because the plans called for a carcass top and than a finished top. I like your way much better and will build your way next time. Thanksagain.

i agree with david, i always pocket screw my tops to the frame, never had problems with this method, tops are solid and you can pick up my cabinets with the top and everything holds together, and no glue.

First time I really had a need for the ACS miter guide.

I've been using my Adaptive Cutting System table for a few years now, and it's been really solid. This past week was the first time I ever needed to use the miter guide though.I was rebuilding some shelving in a tiny closet and I discovered the…Continue

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…

Not Pleased With Pocket Hole Construction

Several months ago, I purchased the Kreg K4MS so that I could build the Lego Table as outlined on the companion "buildsomething" web site which exclusively uses pocket hole construction.  I have considerable experience with conventional…
