Ive recieved JB's very expensive reversible John Boos butcher blockhttp:http://www.amazon.com/John-Boos-Reversible-Maple-Cutting/dp/images/...

does anyone have any ideas on how to attach to the grill trolley that doesn't involve making holes in it. I'd planned on putting it on as a tabletop, but it's too nice to drill into!

if I have to, I have to, I just thought I'd use your more experienced brains before I did anything. Thank you in advance, oh and you can see the beginnings of the grill trolley that I'm attaching to on my page, I'll try to attach the link, it looks much better now :) https://kregjig.ning.com/photo/grill-trolley?context=user

Hey Angie,

The only thing that I can think of that you may use is some form of double sided tape, but I can't guarantee that it will work forever, but it should work for what you need, as long as both surfaces are clean.  Other than that, I am at a loss.  You could always build a butcher block top for a tabletop, I could get you plans for that.  I have a few cutting board/butcher blocks on my page.

Hello Angie, Is it possible to modify the grill trolley by attaching a frame that fits around the butcher block ?  May be something like a box that is hard wood framed with even a plywood bottom.  This could all be done using your Kreg Jig and would also allow you to remove the butcher block for cleaning and even storing during times it is not in use especially in bad weather.  To aid in lifting the block you could bore a couple holes in the bottom of the box and use a short piece of dowel or even your finger to push the block up and out of the up out of the box.  Just an idea I'll throw out there.  I do this type thing often when I build cutting boards in cabinets that are inter changable between wood, stone, glass and plastic inserts.  It gives a person the flexibility of being not only able to change cutting surfaces but to also clean away any chances of the dreaded e-coli  from the often refered to as "the e-coli board"............
What is a grill trolley

I would try laying a sheet of the non skid shelf liner between the old top and the new top.  This rubberized and usually keeps anything wood from sliding.  Any of the woven shelf or toolbox liner should work.  Here is a link!

thanks everyone, tried EVERY idea ;) Jay's the winner!!!!

I'll post pics after I stain, the frame is the most sturdy to cut on etc. Thanks again, angie

I would suggest using a frame glued to the bottom of the Boos top. Use contact cement to attach it. When you have to turn the top over to hide the used side remove the frame and clean the old cement off with Toulene. Let it dry off well and wash it with a light bleach/water solution before you put any food on it. Route a couple of finger slots on the ends to aid you in removing the top for cleaning or storage.
