Im trying to drill pocket holes in 1/2 maple playwood to be joined with 3/4 inch maple styles.

I set up for 1/2 depth but the holes are not deep enough to hide the screw or coming out at the very edge of the 1/2 playwood. How do i get around it ?

Thomas,

The issue you are referring to is due to the thickness of the material you are using. With 1/2" plywood, you will find it is actually undersized and will be less than 1/2" thick. This greatly changes the screw location, causing issues like you are referring to, since your material thickness is less than the minimum the jig can be set up for.

When working with 1/2" plywood you will want to use our pan head screws since they will have a smaller head that will sit further beneath the surface. With these screws, you may have to adjust your depth collar settings to get the best hold and still have the screw head below the surface. We recommend doing this on some scrap pieces.

Another option is to use our Micro Drill Guide Block. This is designed to work with material a little under 1/2" and will use a 3/4" screw, allowing you to seat the screw further below the surface. If you have any additional questions, please let us know.
