Finally installed a 4" dust collection system in my shop. I'd like to find a 4" collection port for my Kreg router table (PRS1045) fence. Anybody know where I can find such an animal or one that can be modified to fit?

Thanks!

I would like to preface this post by letting you know that I am very pleased with the Kreg Precision Router Table package and Kreg's superior customer support but after using it for three years, I have come up with a few fixes and improvements I would like to share.

1) Reference Photos A, B, C, & D:

Having purchased this router table with the current new design fence, I have found that the Micro Adjust mechanism is just too sloppy to make precision adjusts when setting up a Lock Miter bit so I machined my own solution using ¾" UHMW plastic and using a micro adjust assembly from a Woodhaven track that I had purchased some time ago.

Photo A shows it installed on the table and fence. It mounts to the fence with a ¼ - 20 bolt using the predrilled hole in the track as show in Photo D.

Photos B and C show the device from different angles. Photo C shows the raised part which fits into and rides in the track of the fence rail. It keeps the UHMW block from skewing as the fence is moved back and forth.

Reference Photo E:

I also purchased the Kreg switch for the router table but found out that it was designed to mount on the right hand corner of the table and it was oriented 90º opposite from what I am used to with my other power tools. I am right handed and I wanted to be able to quickly slap the paddle down with my left hand while maintaining control of the work piece with my right hand. So, I used a piece of aluminum flat stock to fashion my own preferred mounting. This allowed my to also mount a few needed tools on the front of the table (Photo F).

Reference Photo G:

This is a mount I made for the automatic vacuum switch. I needed to keep it accessable because I frequently unplug the vacuum for use elsewhere.

Reference Photo H:

The dust port for this fence is a very poor design. The slightest weight from the vacuum hose pops the dust port off the fence. To alleviate this problem, I made a very thin strip of wood to jam between the catches on the dust port and the fence. That strip of wood prevents those catches from disengaging.
Kreg PRS2100 Precision Benchtop Router Tabletag:kregjig.ning.com,2018-02-06:2900167:Topic:9408672018-02-06T17:49:04.752ZChuck Dumonthttps://kregjig.ning.com/profile/ChuckDumont

I have seen the router table video where storage space is made in the way of drawers etc, is there a similar project for the portable router bench?

Hi,

Great forum...I bough the Kreg router table with a Bosch router. I'm having trouble with getting the router bit lower. There is an adjustment on the router that I can access from the top of the table but it only goes down a certain amount. I need it to go down a little bit further. Am I doing something wrong?? Or is there a workaround?

Frank
Tall auxiliary fence for Kreg router tabletag:kregjig.ning.com,2015-12-21:2900167:Topic:7808432015-12-21T18:04:38.317ZMaximillianhttps://kregjig.ning.com/profile/Maximillian
Does anyone have a recommendation for how to add a tall fence to the Kreg fence?
I thought that it would be a simple matter of screwing a board through the holes in the existing sliding fence faces into the fence itself. However, the sliding fence faces are recessed slightly behind the overhanging top track. This would put the fence on a lean to the front.
Any ideas are more than welcome, thanks.
Cheers
I hate to ask such remedial questions but I just ordered a dewalt dw611pk. I thought that (I have never had a new router before) all new routers came with a bushing, but after some reasherch I have learned that I'm on my own. I have big plans a want a bushing or two. For templates, sign making and maybe inlay. So how do I know what bushing to order I see a lot of talk about PC Bushings (brass) and that they are universal. Anyway any info would be helpful, oh and dados are also something I want…

I have a Makita Plunge router. Had it for about 7 years and it works good.. On the router it has a speed control and I do not know what it is for. When would I want to slow the speed of my router down. I think it might have something to do with friction so I don't burn up the bits, but how do I know what speed to run?

I always run on high by the way.
