My son wants to make a flag and the stripes will be from 1x2 pine stock. When laid out to be 13 stripes tall, can he use the Kreg Jig or the Kreg Mini Jig? any ideas or illustrations on wood 2" wide?

The actual size of 1x2 stock is 3/4" x 1 1/2". Regular Kreg Jigs, including the Mini, are designed to work with 1/2" to 1 1/2" thick material. For materials beyond that thickness range, you will want to use the Kreg Jig HD

Best way to attack this is lay the strips out, face up and apply several strips of masking tape to temporarily hold them together.  Flip the layout over, number the strips and remove strip #1.  You will be creating a "sandwich" with the jig on top, your stock in the middle and a solid surface at the bottom to support the taped up pieces. Clamp your jig to the strip #2 and drill the pocket holes.  Once your holes are drilled in strip #2, remove the strip and repeat for strip 3 - 12. For strip #13, place strip #12 behind #13 to provide support to the jig.

If your union (blue field) is to be different material, be sure to drill the pocket holes to attach it before assembling the stripes.

Good luck.  Be sure to post the results!
