What is everyone using for project plan software.  Currently I am using 2D Autocad for my cut sheets and plans but would like to do a few nicer looking 3D plans for some of the easier projects we do.

Sketchup

I either use an old CAD program called Key Cad or I sketch them up by hand.  This is why I don't post more plans with my project pictures.

I use Turbocad but I would like to learn Sketchup.

I used to use Design CAD but found it easier and faster to draw by hand. The only drawback is that my hand drawings won't show interfering parts, cuts, etc.   As Don mentioned, when asked for plans, it makes it more difficult to share.

I like Sketchup, its free and easy to use, to create my cut sheets I use Cut Calculator, this is an ipad app that works great, you can print or email the cut sheet in pdf form.

let me know if  you would like to see a sample.

Most of my projects are in AutoCAD 16.  That allows me to convert them to 3D if I want.  You may also want to try Sketchup. They have a free program and Sketchup viewers available for download.  Sketchup Pro you would have to pay for.  But alot of the projects in some of the wood magazines are done in Sketchup.

Sketchup.
