I started woodworking a few years back after finding Ana White's website. I started off with a kids table and chairs and have been making everything we need ever since. I'm a stay at home mom of 3. I have a special needs son and 4 year old twins so I don't get much free time. My "mom" time is spent out in the garage. I don't think I will ever buy a piece of new furniture again because I love building now and I love that fact that I can make all my furniture fit my needs and space.
There are two things I don't like about my workspace. I really don't like the fact that it's in the garage so while I have a big project going I can't park inside. AZ summers are HOT and a garage really makes a difference when getting in the car! The other thing is lack of storage for lumber.
My favorite project I've done is by far my son's bed. It's a playhouse loft bed with storage stairs. The stairs are a great place to keep toys or blankets/pillows. I also built a media center to fit perfectly underneath complete with a little recliner. I love having movie nights with him in the "man cave"! I have a picture of the bed posted to my projects.
I just recently was given a router. I make a lot of picture frames so that is definitely what I would want to work on first.
