A while back I had downloaded a PDF file of a table with jig settings and screw lengths for different thicknesses of materials - I think I found it in this community. The table was kind of fuzzy so I recreated it using Excel.
Well, today I finally got my VERY cool Kreg Screw Selector Wheel and noticed there were slight differences in the screw length recommendations from that original table and for face frame vs. edge frame joints. So I updated the table and made versions for both types of joints.
I think the Kreg Screw Selector Wheel is well designed, super easy to use, and worth the money, but if you're shy on cash maybe the attached tables will be of use to you.

Two methods for setting the collar position:
1. Use the jig setting -- Use the drill bit "trough" on the Kreg Jig to set the collar placement. Butt the collar up to the end of the trough, and then slide the drill so that the drill step (where its width drops to the narrow tip) to the same value as the jig setting shown on the table. Tighten the drill collar. Make sure the drill guide is also set to the jig setting shown on the table.
2. The nickel method -- Set the drill guide height using the jig setting shown on the table. Lay a U.S nickel on the bottom of the jig - where the board would go. With the collar loose on the drill bit, slide the drill bit into the drill guide until the tip GENTLY touches the face of the nickel. Butt the drill collar to the top of the drill guide and then tighten the drill collar. This method ensures that the drill will stop just short of breaking the surface of the material - as is needed.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
