Kreg Owners' Community

I just received a Kreg Micro Pocket Drill Guide as a gift. Very nice. I read through the instructions and the card that came in the packaging to try to figure out which screws are compatible with the Micro Pocket Drill Guide but the real mention is a line that indicates I can use the 3/4" screws instead of the standard 1" screws if I want deeper - more plugable - pockets.

I looked on Kregtool.com but still didn't find any more information about micro-compatible screws.

The Micro Pocket Drill Guide package comes with three packages of screws labeled as: SPS-F125, SPS-F1, and SPS-F075, which I'm pretty sure are lengths of 1-1/4", 1", and 3/4", respectively.

At this point I am assuming that:

... the 1-1/4" screws should be used with 3/4" thick material,

... the 1" screws should be used with 5/8" and 1/2" thick material,

... and the 3/4" screws should be used with 1/2" thick material IF I want deeper more "plugable" pocket holes.

Question 1: Can someone confirm my assumptions about screw length usage with the Micro Pocket Drill Guide?

Question 2: Are there any other types of screws that are compatible with the Kreg Micro Pocket Drill Guide?

Ken,

When picking your screw size using the Micro Jig, it will be the exact same as when you are using the normal Kreg Jig except for with the 1" screw.  With the Micro you will want to only use this with 5/8" material and not 1/2".  Due to you drilling a little bit deeper in 1/2" material, your screw will come out through your other piece if you use the 1" screw.

With the Micro Drill Guide Block you will only be able to use our Pan Head screws.  The reason for this is that the Pan Head screws are the only screws with a small enough head to fit in the smaller sized pocket hole.  These will be denoted by the SPS in the item number of the screw.  Hopefully this answers any questions you have.  If not please let us know and we would be more than happy to assist you.
