Each shutter had 4 coats of paint per side that's 16 coats total .The biggest problem was painting the edges of the slats ,these were done before final assembly.

Thank you  Jay and Leslee , how are you both doing? The shutters were a solution to the ugly as my wife calls it p.v.c. window in my shop. Also a added benefit the shop is a lot cooler , the slats are not moveable Jay not up to your level however they do open up to let the light flood in . I do not get the time in the shop I used to as I now have a little maintenance job for a residential home , these took me about 8 weeks on and off  happy woodworking .

 Hi, Mick.

I like your shutters on your shop windows. I think that was a wise idea with the different weather we are having these days. I also think it adds some class to your shop as well. Thanks for sharing your project.

Hi Michael, nice to see something like this done.  These really make the building look totally different dressing up the out side looks.   I see the hinges and imagined that these are fully functional.

I recently acquired a set of cutters to build plantation shutters from sommerfeld tools for wood.  This allows me to build interior or exterior shutters that have moveable slats of which the set makes two sizes and can be made on a router table.  I am adding this availability to my business allowing me to build "the would be expensive shutters" and do this to match some of my kitchen cabinet sets as well as featured door building where I can use a shutter instead of glass or panels.  It takes this to a whole new ball game allowing me to easily build working shutters out of and species of wood.

Rocklers has had a shutter making kit out for about 3 years now but although they work you are almost required to buy the staves from an outside source as making the football shaped slat is not easy on a router.  The set I got allows this and it is done with ease.

Thanks for sharing your project as it is inspirational.  It is also nice to see your craftsmanship is becoming very good.
