I made his mother a stool when she was his age, now one more time. I filled the knot holes with epoxy so you can see the knot but it is covered.

Agree with you on the stool making for family... It's alot of fun knowing that your making something for someone that will always be supporting and reminding them of you... Have also , like you , made for my granddaughter and for my Wife as the need came up.. Go to my photos and you will see that we designed our stools very close ... And I made mine with the idea that it can be un screwed with the Kreg system and refinished if needed ,, then just screwed back together..

One last thing I need to know,,, on the underside of my stools I always ink in a personal message to the one I made the item for... Signed and dated.... Did you do the same...

I like the stool you made.. Haven't made one that thick.. Will need to try it some time...

Jig settings for 2 ¾ x 1 ½ boards with 30 degree miters?
