Outdoor Cedar Sofa

Made an outdoor sofa inspired by an Ana White plan. I made quite a few modifications including using 2x6's, hiding more of the non-pocket hole screws, using HD pocket holes in more areas and building an incline for the backrest. Wood is all Cedar and sealed with Minwax Spar Urethane. Cushions are Sunbrella from Lowe's.

Well done, really good upgrade using the 2x6's vs 2x4's. Solid looking build.

Hi Tony. The sofa looks great. Would you mind sharing the depth of the seat?  I like how the back cushion sits on too of the seat cushion. Are you happy with the depth?  Would you recommend making any adjustments to the depth?

thanks

Manny....that's kind of why I went with more 2x6's in the design since I was using cedar, which as you know, is a bit of a softer wood.  We had a grad party for one of my kids this past weekend and I can tell you that there was up to 4 adults sitting on the couch throughout the entire day, including myself at times, at it felt very solid.

Tony, that is awesome. Thanks!

Great Sofa BTW!!! I I was thinking a little sleeker with 1x4s since I have a small deck and the 2x6 scale would be a bit much. I do wonder about the strength of it though......

Hi Manny.

I don't have plans for anything that I build.  I think it's part of my ADHD.  I may start with a plan, but usually will customize to my own liking.  I like to design as I go.  I can help with some of the dimensions over the phone some time if you'd like, as I've offered to others on here.

Tony, Do you have plans for this?

Thanks.

Bought them from Lowe's online.  Lowe's item # is 243817.  They are Sunbrella Canvas in Chili Red.  $98 for a cushion with backrest pillow, so 3 pkg for me was $294.

Just wondering were you purchased the cushions

I just printed out Ana White's plans for this couch, but I really like the changes you made.  Do you have a plan for this you can share?  I'm a beginner, so I can follow instructions well, but have a hard time figuring things out by just looking at a picture.  Thanks!

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.
