I want to make some kitchen drawers out of 1/2” pre finished plywood. Sometimes called Apple Ply. The problem is that when Iscres theo 1” course screws in it splits out the board it is going into.
I have the collar for the drill set for 1/2” material along with the snap in step up on the KP2000.
Any suggestions?

Lefty,
I'd suggest calling Kreg Tech Support 800-447-8638

explain the problems your having, perhaps they may have an answer.

I'd suggest that the screws, when installed, are directed away from the edge of the drawer member, you're driving the screw into.

Hence, the pockets for the screws would be on the outside of the drawer sides, and pointed in an inward direction, away from the end of the mating panel.

When the pockets are on the inside surface of the drawer side, the screw point will exit toward the outside end of the plywood panel, which can cause the plys to separate.

Have you tried 3/4" long screws?

Ken, what you said makes perfect sense. In fact, when I read your reply I went out and checked my attempt. I had drilled the pocket screws on the inside edge rather than the outside edge as I had planned.
Thanks, I will re-do it in the morning and see how it works.
Thanks again,
Lefty
