Kreg Owners' Community

Hi,
I am a newbie to woodworking. What power tools should I get? I plan on using the Kreg jig to make basic furniture.
Thanks,
Peter

You will need a corded drill. A cordless would be nice for driving screws but you can work without it. A  circular saw will work for ripping and crosscut. My preference for crosscut is a chopsaw  (also known as a power mitre saw.) They can be expensive though. Read ALL the safety warnings in the literature and know where your fingers are before you start any power tool.

Thanks Barry,
Many people say a table saw as well

You will need  drill/ driver impact drill set - circular saw - jig saw -sander.  Try also to get a table saw and Mitre saw .Be careful all the time about your fingers when you work with any power tool, make sure to follow up all safety instructions for every tool by the manufacturer..Don't forget to protect your eyes and ears too ..

A good shop vac.

A good beginning shop might include (in order of importance in my opinion):

* Cordless power tool set (mine has two drills, skillsaw, oscillating saw, reciprocating saw, light)

* Random orbital sander

* Miter saw

* Table saw

* Saw horses
