I have been running into this frustration more and more lately. What is the best and most foolproof way to clamp stability into a joint so that it won't slip when putting in the pocket screw?

I can't see in the picture what kind of L-Bracket you are using. Is that what you use to hang a shelf or something?

I tried the trick from family handyman using a 5 inch L bracket . Here are pictures of a project I'm building using kreg joints clamped with this method.

Bradley just used to clamp to drive kreg screws and build frame . This exceeded my expectation my old Sears corner clamps treads are worn out. This is easier and less cumbersome than old clamps.

I get that, I just can't see what the L-brackets are

Normally there used to reinforce corner joints in a repair. However it works good as clamping aid. I am exceedingly impressed at how well they work. There called 5 inch L brackets 5 bucks for corner clamps good deal. Replaced my Sears corner clamps. Here is a link to my clamps there big and bulky . http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/272512692551 Actually I'll take a picture and post in the morning.

Here is a 5 inch L bracket  if you notice there  are 4 counter sunk holes to put in a corner to reinforce a corner joint or reinforce a corner joint. If you have a project try this it works. I first take a scrap from the project, I'm working on clamp and align the bracket square to one of the corners. Then do other side then put your real part up tight up against the other side of the brackets and clamp those. Lot less cumbersome than old clamps. Kens clamps are better but for the price I'm not going to that expense.  By the way those Sears clamps are cheap plastic adjustment screws. I had them for 10 years.
