Hi Michael , i do not own the Kreg jig but in the spirit of helping a fellow wood worker , always and i stress always do several test holes on a scrap then adjust as necessary .  To many people put to much trust in tool manufactures reference lines to find their off . Tried and tested is the way to go happy woodworking. Mick !!

I believe the K3, 4 & 5 are designed for 1/2" and thicker materials.  If I am not mistaken, the drill bit diameter for those jigs is 3/8".  For 3/8" material, look at the Kreg Micro Jig.  The Micro Jig has a smaller drill diameter.  I'll use my Micro Jig for 1/2" material or thinner.

Hi Michael. Not sure what jig you're working with, but like Tim said, the K3, K4, and K5 models are designed to work with materials from 1/2" to 1 1/2" thick. The Micro Drill Guide is designed for thinner stock, and narrow stock, down to 1" wide.
