I'm reading and listening to dozens of reports that attaching a breadboard to the ends of a tabletop using pocket holes is going to lead to disaster (cracked boards, warping) do to expansion and shrinking throughout the year. Is there a workaround or a tip to avoid this? Is there a way to still use pocket holes joinery that allows for this expansion? Or am I stuck having to build mortise and tenon joints?

Hi Brian have you tried biscuits always worked for me.
I don't have the biscuit joiner.
I was thinking dowels, but somebody mentioned that if you drilled a slightly larger pilot hole in the board you are joining to, that this might create the room needed for it to shift. I guess with dowels you would make them slightly deeper than the actual dowel to create a gap for expansion? I'm not sure. I was just hoping to make this quickly due to my tools being in storage until we get a shed built for my wood-shop tools. Thanks
Hi Brian you can always use a router with a biscuit cutting bit . Plus biscuit cutters not that expensive mine was the equivalent of $50 three years on still going strong and it's another useful tool in your arsenal .

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.
I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.
