Just finished assembling my new Kreg Universal Workbench with casters.  Great quality and gotta love that blue!  Easy assembly using a 1/2" socket wrench with extension.  Planning to use it as a mobile miter saw stand so now I have to figure out what kind of top and how to attach raised wings to support the material being cut.

Happy New Year everyone!  Here's the long awaited more or less finished miter saw table with removable wings.  Wings are held to table by Festool Quick Clamps and as you can see, butt up against the side of the box shelf I built for the Kreg Workbench.  Just held there by a finishing nail right now - will do some molding tomorrow hopefully.  A few blunders here and there, but that's the beauty of working with wood - most things are fixable!

Hi everyone -

Here's a progress picture of my Kreg Universal Workbench come portable Miter Saw Stand.  Used my Festool Carvex for the first time yesterday to cut the plywood to size for the bottom shelf.  Took it up a notch today and did the front cut out!  Notice the absence of the Festool Kapex miter saw - it's been replaced by a Makita 7 1/2" slider which works great and doesn't burn out when used with the CT26 Dust Extractor like the Kapex did - plus bonus I can actually lift it!  Still pondering on the extensions so that will be my first New Year's project.

Hope you all have a Happy New Year and here's to creating some great works in 2015!

Had to put it on hold because my expensive Festool Kapex blew up when I had it connected to my CT26 dust extractor!  Guess it just burns out instead of flipping the breaker when it doesn't get enough juice.  Bad design.  I decided to return it and get a Makita 7.5" miter saw instead which should be hear before the New Year.  I bought a Hegner 18" scroll saw with all the doe I saved!  I'll be sure to post pics of the finished product early in the New Year, but right now it's just a sheet of plywood screwed onto my Kreg bench frame.  Hope you all have a Merry Christmas and here's to creating some wonderful masterpieces in 2015!

Plywood is a good option to me, it is cheap to replace down the road when needed.  I can say though we have a little table saw stand my husband built way back around the year 2000 and the top is still the original.  Actually, he built the stand so he could use the miter saw, table saw and the router all on the same stand.  He just changes out whatever tool he needs to use.
