Hi Jay thanks for the nice comments on my stand , had just enough slats to finish the stand ,no room for error , Ha !!!  Did take some close cutting to get the legs fit through the out side boards , HA!!  And did make it stronger !!  Did use the bread board design on the ends , so no end grain showing , and used clear gloss poly for the finish , brings out the redish color , Have a good day , JIM !!!

Hi Jim, This is a very good example of a plant stand  of which is interesting in the fact that is does not have the normal uninteresting nature of a flat surface, but one of which would actually not only act as specialty stand for a potted plant but could be used for several other uses such as a location to display a lamp or even a special art object such a trophy.  I like the concept as the slat look makes it very eye appealing and the color with the wood grains adds greatly to it's look.  The method used to add the lower shelf is very becoming.  The legs running through a surround style shelf not only adds great strength, but is also a way to hide the end grain of the slats.  I think this is a "first" posted on the community of which is different in design as most of what has been posted is the total unbroken flat surface.  It is nice to see something new.  Thanks for sharing
