I am building an alter table for my niece's wedding. I have my top and am outing a 3-1/2" trim under the top. I cut the ends at a 45-degree angle to have a nice joining edge, but can't figure out how to use my Kreg Jig to join them! Any ideas?

Sincerely scratching my head,
Dave

Same problem here.  The DVD says to go to Kreg to learn more about joining angles and all I found on the website is the same exact video.  Where is it documented how to do this?

Ok, found something useful.  Look at this discussion forum.  It would be nice to know what manual has all the explanations shown here.  Scroll down until you see a bunch of drawings and text.  There's one in there that is what you (and I) are trying to do.  http://kregjig.ning.com/forum/topics/making-a-corner-cabinet?commen...

Thank you Kathy! This is helpful but still doesntreallyanswer my original question but it gives me somewhere to start! Thanks again!

Dave,

If I understand what you're trying to accomplish---

a. 45 mitered corners, with the wide part of the members vertical, and

b. join the 45 miters with pocket hole joinery.

If you put install pocket holes and install the screws on the inside surfaces, the screw tip will point outward---

this will not give you a solid joint.  (The member may develop a fracture).

I'd suggest putting pocket holes on the outside surface(s) so the screw points are INWARD,

so as to achieve a solid joint.

Then, add plugs to close the pocket holes.

OPTION: (if you have the tools to accomplish this task).

Use biscuit or spline joinery.

Thanks Ken for this information. It will be helpful for future projects!

Dave,

When attempting joinery methods, that one is not familiar with, it's a good practice to make sample test pieces.  This way you can see for yourself, if the end result meets your expectations.
