This is a DC system made with a Harbor Freight blower, Oneida Super Dust Deputy (molded), a Brute trashcan and a rolling cart made from scrap 2x3s and a piece of 4/4 heart pine cutoff. The hose and connections are Rockler Dust-Right.

Neat looking dust collection system Russ.  I think a good dust collection system for the workshop is important. well done.

Thanks, Jay!  I looked at the Jet systems -- I think their Vortex one looks really interesting, but space and budget are my biggest concerns crammed into this little garage.  So this one isn't ideal but it does pretty well for my small shop.  I have one length of piping on one wall that lets me move the hose from my table saw to that pipe and from there I can collect dust from the router table or sanding table by controlling two blast gates.  I have it on a remote system with the remote clipped to my apron with a carabiner so it's always there and can't fall off.  I thought about an automatic system, but the wiring in my shop is so haphazard -- I had to sort of cobble it together using whatever runs were coming in or near the garage.  And from there I had to spread out the tools among different circuits to avoid popping them.  But when we move to a bigger house and I build the next shop custom from the ground up, I think I'll put in a big system like yours, in its own closet, and then have it connected to the subpanel for the shop so it can sense a voltage change whenever a tool comes on, no matter what circuit the tool is on.  The only thing I'll have to work out is how to get the DC to run a little longer after the tool shuts off.  They say it's good to run the DC for about 20 seconds after the tool shuts down, although with the short connections I have now I doubt it matters.  I can't say enough good things about Oneida -- I have the little Dust Deputy for my shop vac and then the big one for the dust collector and they're both amazing.

Russ, nice looking system. Compact and looks like it will do the job.  I have a large jet 240 volt collector that I am going to modify when I get some time, which is rare anymore.  I am considering using some of the Oneida components.    I have it hooked up to my router table and can hook it up to the table saw by flipping the hose connections.  I have not yet installed a piped system and wonder if there is a need as I can move the hose around pretty fast.

What type of switch system do you have for turning it on and off ?   I have mine hooked up to an automatic switch system that I made over 20 years ago.   All I have to do is turn on the tool it is hooked to and the dust collector system powers up, turn off the tool and the dust collector shuts down.  No remotes to get lost of fool with to turn it on or off.  It is a multi voltage system and cost about 60 dollars to build.  Interested let me know.

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
