I just purchased a dust deputy the DIY version and put together . The only thing you get is the plastic cyclone top part. You need 6, 1/4 twenty thread bolts 3/4 inch long and I used about a 6 inch square piece of 1/4 inch thick styrofoam for a gasgut. I bought a 5 gallen bucket with a lid and cut a 3 inch hole in the center of the lid and centered the dust deputy over the 3 inch hole. I used the dust deputy to trace the location of the holes. Then I taped the  styrofoam over and centerd over the holes I drilled and put board down and put the lid foam on the board and drilled the holes through the foam. Then just bolted it down to lid using the 1/4 bolts and 1/4 washers. I already had an extra shop vac hose. Its 39.95 DIY version and 79.95 with buckets.

I did buy the bucket about $5 and $2 for bolts and washers. Even if you did have to buy the hose home depot sells the hose for 19.95. The styrofoam was from packing material free.

I tried out seems to work as advertised. I plan on mounting to a cart next week project I'll add pictures then. When I clean up after I'll show how much dust in vacum before and after. I have the trolley built for the shopvac and dustdeputy I just need to build the support for the vacum connection to the dustdeputy.  Then i"ll bunge cord the shopvac and dustdeputy to the center support. Then I'll take pictures and post. I may also get to play some more with my Rip cut and take some pictures.

I picked up a 20 gallon salvage drum at Amazon on which to mount the Dust Deputy.  The drum is very well made and holds a bit more than the 5 gallon buckets.  The lid is a little domed, and after a few weeks of use, has begun to settle.  I will probably have to reinforce as Russ below has done.  I'm using a very old 1.25 HP vac, and so far, it is working very well.  I built a cart to hold the vac & barrel with vac bungee corded down inside a carpet lined box to keep the noise down.

I don't have a closeup of my stacked shop vac/DD cart, but you can see it here behind my TS and in front of the band saw cart.  The shop vac is underneath the DD and enclosed to help control the noise of the shop vac.  Instead of the flexible hose that came with the kit to go from the DD output to the shop vac input, I used PVC, which has worked very well for me.

The DD is a great shop upgrade, I think you'll really be pleased with it.  When you go to put your cart together, consider a stacked setup also.  It saves floor space.  You may also want to consider reinforcing the bucket lid, which will eventually warp and crack from the pressure.  To prevent this problem on mine, about a year ago I added a piece of 1/4" mdf to the underside of my lid and four extra bolts.  It stiffened it up great, no problems since then.  Good luck.

Gary,

Most 5 gal plastic buckets on today's market, are not made from ''anti-static'' material,

therefore you'll want to have a ''grounding'' strap, to reduce the dust particles, from adhering to the bucket walls, and minimize the dust adhering to the inside of the vac hose.

Attach one end of the grounding strap to the bolt on the cone, and the other end, so it rests on the ground (concrete, or the like).  A suitable grounding strap, could be a suitable length of stranded copper wire---one end affixed under a bolt head, and the other end affixed to a large dia heavy washer,

so it will rest flat on the floor.

(A wood or tiled floor, is not of a conductive material---so it won't suffice for grounding).
