Happy with my new K5 but not with the Multi-Mark.

I'm an amateur/beginner woodworker. and just in the process of acquiring tools.  I've just got the K5 and stated working with it and so far so good. I'd like to see 1/2" size screws and matching size in the sizing jig, for thinner boards. as improvement, but other then that I am very happy with it in contrary to the Multi-Mark Measuring tool. which has nice concept but unfortunately I like many others complain about the tool not being tight when measuring 90 degrees, and it has a few percents of loose movement. To be fair Kreg people offered to replace the product, but since I am working abroad now, this offer doesn't hold much water in here and mail it will cost me so much more. so I'm taking rain-check on it. Anyway, not to spoil it I will most definitely recommend the K5.

I use it too, but nevertheless still have an issue with the 90º like many others (just read comments on various sites of people having the same issue), because of when it comes to this part it wasn't built right. I hardly use it because of that for 90º and or squaring. only when it comes to small and not important projects.

I use my multi-mark tool quite a lot and really like it for measuring up jobs but must admit I have never used it as a set square, I use a bigger one for that. But I do like my multi-mark!

There's a micro version of the pocket hole jig that works very well with 1/2" stock.  It slides right into the jig body you already own and uses a 1/4" stepped bit instead of the 3/8" that comes with the standard Kreg jig.  If you work with 1/2" material, it's a good investment for a reasonable price.

The Multi-Mark tool is a very handy tool, for many uses, in wood working.

For precision accuracy a machinist square is the preferred tool.

Hi PJ, I know where your coming from with the free play issue . Perhaps its time for the Multi -Mark to have some design improvements, take it easy .Mick.

Thanks for your comment. Yes it does help with certain things, but Kreg is selling the Multi-Mark as a tool that does great job marking 90° and from my experience and others as I read in other forums and rating, it has a few degrees of loose space. So, for small jobs and not really important, this tool will work, but when it comes to precision, I'm afraid that it won't hold water.

Hi PJ ,I find the multi -mark  a great tool for marking applications , I always use a carpenters square for 90 degree applications more sturdy . Go steady Mick.
