Kreg Owners' Community

I do not like to become vocal in this tone of attitude however this site is becoming another site of which "spammers" seem to like to pick on to place un-desirable spam which is forced on us and cripples the site.

It is now 12:30 am PST on Saturday June 21, 2014 and this latest edition of spam began at about 3:00 PM PST on June 20, 2014 or about 9 1/2 hours ago.   So far there is around 10 pages of the spam on this site from the same spammer.

Unfortunately  there has been multiple members whom have replied to the spam and this is not only exposing your computer and yourself to being the victim of a  fraud and virus laden material of which is sure to follow your reply.  It is certain to follow unless this person gets shut down, as why else would the spammer elect to correspond with you other that to gain something in return.  It also exposes us to un-desirable materials.

This spammer left a personal e-mail address of which was the requested form of communication.  Should you desire to communicate with this person them by all means do so, but I request that you do not use this site.  Please use their e-mail address from your own computer e-mail system and then it will be your personal e-mail that gets the results and penalty of your own actions.  When you use this site it only causes more spam from not only this spammer but others as well.  This also exposes the rest of this community to your actions.  If you get a virus from replying to the spammer and then you send e-mails, don't you think that your infected computer is  also sending out the same virus?  Remember firewalls and anti virus software do not always catch virus laden material and as of late virus and other computer infections including key loggers are getting more complex and harder for anti virus and firewalls to keep up.

On March 14th 2014 the Kreg Rep put out a written discussion on the topic of spam and  why the spammers are placing spam on this site.  The manner of how to deal with the spam was also discussed.  I would request that you read it and try to adhere to is suggestions.

I am normally a understanding person however when it comes to carless and un-thoughtful actions of which endangers the security of this site I get a little angry.  I am sure that spam can easily be determined as spam when it is the same repeated statement time after time on each and every members page.

Just so you know that this person "ANNA" aka know as "miss leylo sheikh" is from Munnco, Mali West Africa and is a spammer of which has spammed numerous sites along with this community and in fact Google the name and see how many pages of information is available. There are numerous pages.  Also be aware that most fraud and undesirable Ethernet correspondence comes from Africa.

The last week's incident was the same with the same thing, with members replying to the spam and in recent spam incidents becoming "friends" with them and one member also posted his photo.

Now I am an easy going guy however I will not sit still and allow a great site of which we enjoy and use to discuss our woodworking among members and that  Kreg Tool Company had allowed this site to be free of charge to us, fall into another disaster like It almost did a couple years ago when we began to experience full blown porn.

We are fortunate to have this site and we each owe one another as well as the Kreg Tool Company a debt of gratitude and each of us should strive to keep this site free of spam and other undesirable elements.  This will help keep this site going so that we may enjoy it for what it was intended to be.

Now if I have upset anyone then I am sorry but on the same token, I will also advise you that I will not sit idle and allow what I know to be harmful to this site and its members to continue without some resistance from me.

It is easy to ignore the spam and report it to the Kreg Rep so that he can deal with it in the proper way.  Please also remember that the Kreg Rep is also like us, he needs time off and time to rest and spend with family.  He does when advised of a problem take care of it in the quickest manner but we also should be helping as all the members should be also additional eyes for him.  That way we can continue to be a functional and clean community.

I appreciate your time and again if I have offended anyone then please except my apology.

Hi jay totally agree with your opinion, I like spam however that's the processed meat variety . Not these people who at the end of the day are trying to extract money from us all ,by foul means .Mick.

Good Morning guys.    Seems I see this happening with more frequency lately and it makes me some what concerned to venture to the site.   Amazed that anyone would fall for the obvious.  Some actions are easily disguised but these seem to be blatantly asking for trouble.

Jay;

Jay I thought you only where good at cabinet making, but this post is well written as well. Great post, needed  to be said and no need to apologize as far as I can tell.

And Michael how did I know you would like spam you sound like my Grandmothers one was a Jordy the other a Cockney, oh yea then there was the ex a midlander.

All kidding a side I think this site is great because of all the caring responsible members unfortunately people can lie to get on this sit to use it for other things last time this happened about a week ago I remember some member that was using it as link to promote there granite countertop business only I informed the Kreg Rep and they are gone.

I hope your post helps Jay

Have a Great Weekend Jeff

Oh look everyone what member is online at this time ANNA

Hi Jeff, guess I could be called a midlander broadly speaking. I am from Oxford ,tell me Jeff do you know if Anna likes spam ? Sorry Jeff could not resist that quip ha. Its my English sense of humour ,go steady .

We apologize to anyone that got spam messages over the weekend from a member named "ANNA." She has been deleted and banned from the community.

We hope you know that we work hard to protect this community from spammers and others who might want to join for reasons that aren't true to the purpose of the site. We make new members answer questions and we have to approve them--which we do daily--so nobody gets in "automatically."

This helps us catch most people and the "search bots." On occasion, though, someone gives seemingly legitimate answers, but is joining for the wrong reasons. When that happens, we delete their membership as quickly as possible. You often help us with this by letting us know when you see spammers out there. And, of course, we keep a watchful eye on this community 7 days a week.

So, why are spammers interested in us woodworkers and DIYers? Sure, we're awesome, but that's not the reason. They see a community with this many members, and it's like waving bacon in front of a hungry dog. They simply can't resist. Then, they try to bait you into communications, etc.

Back to those numbers: We are thrilled that you have made the Kreg Owners' Community into a vibrant, active, respected, large, and growing online community. We appreciate your willingness to share, seek out, advise, and complement one another. You're a great bunch, and we're proud that we are able to provide a place where you can do what you do so well. We give you the meeting place, but YOU make it a community. For that, everyone here at Kreg says thank you!

You are spot on Jay.  No apology necessary all your points are well taken.  I will start being more carful myself.  Don't quit the site I may need you help some day.

Well said Jay, I havn't been here for awhile, I sorta take the summer off to enjoy the things people do during the hot months. I remember the porn of a couple of years ago. You are right about the Kreg Rep they do the best job possible when it comes to handling the spammers.

Spam ....Army Soldiers survive on it!!

Well hello Robert long time no hear from you.  It is good to hear that you still are connected to us on the Kreg Community and we do miss your input.  There are a lot of people that I would like to add to the spam list and yes I ate my share of spam and it did taste pretty good.  The spam I was talking does not taste so good and caused lots of trouble for everyone and leaves a bitter taste in your mouth.

Did you ever get your gripper set that you were having trouble getting.  I sent your name to a new member who is a salesman for your country and he said he would contact you about some grippers.

Well now it is good to hear from you and hope to see some more projects on here soon.  Take care and work safely.       My Regards, Jay

Hello Jay,

Still very active doing woowork

Just finished a little kids chair for my Grandkids, its one that I was  inspired by Sam Maloofs work.

I have been following the Agents for GRR Ripper in Australia, looks like there is now a "new" agent I saw the information on pssst lumberjocks so I have to follow it up They are not in Queensland though, I think South Australia from memory.

I try to restrict my posts to Kreg based work of which I have not done a lot recently mostly Serving Trays and some Little Kids projects..

The chair is Camphor Laurel and its effectively a prototype built to see if I actually had the skills to do Sam Justice.

It actually was not that difficult and I a Cherry/Walnut one in production.

Spam yeah I stll actually like it I guess it Brings back my youth Its usually comes out when we are away camping!!
