I am interested in doing a humidor....has anyone attempted to do one and what kind of problems did you run into? There are a couple of tube videos on doing them, but they are contradictory in how to install the Spanish cedar. As always...looking for help.....LOL!!!!!!!

I built a 10'x21' for my brother in law and just did as if I were building a house. I used Roxul insulation throughout and reg house poly. Then strapped the walls and ceiling with 2"x3/4 plywood strips and installed the tongue n groove cedar over the ceiling first then walls. I don't have a real big or real nice setup so I kinda had to make do with what I have. The only real problem I ran into with my setup is I ran out of material once and had to order more so when my material showed up a few weeks later and I milled all my tongue n grooves they didn't line up bang on like I had hoped. So my advice would be to make sure you have enough material and mill it all at the same time so everything lines up perfect. Oh and give yourself just a little bit of play in your grooves so your not fighting to get them to fit together. Good luck and cheers!
I'll try to get some pics post for you

That would be cool Chris....I would really like to see that, but it sounds like you built a HUMIDOR!!!!!.....like the walk in kind.....I am looking to just build a small one that may sit on a table......but I really would love to see pics of your brother in laws.....I did a wine cellar in a basement that we finished for some folks years ago....that was an interesting project.....that was the wildest basement we ever did.....just the basement remodel was pushing 150K.

American Woodworker has a plan Asian-Inpsired Humidor.

Chris,

A build of that size sounds like what may be called a "sauna" room.

I suppose it would work well to store cigars.
