In my attempt to use the jig I find that the head of the screw never seats properly or the head is always visible. How do I seat the screw completely so the head does not show and the hole can be plugged? Thanks

Hi Jerome. Check that you have your Jig set to the correct setting to match your stock thickness, and that you have the drill bit stop collar also set to drill to the correct depth--again based on stock thickness. Also be sure that you are setting your bit by aligning the "step" on the bit (where it narrows down) with the marking, and not the tip.

The drill bit should create a pocket that is plenty deep to sink the head and allow you to plug the hole.

I'm not sure which Kreg Jig you are using, but all the setup should be covered in your Quick-Start Guide. If you need to reference the your guide and don't have it, you can find them online in our Info Center: http://www.kregtool.com/InfoCenter-Info.html. Just click on the "Product Manuals" button and then locate the appropriate one.

Thank you!

I ran into this when using 1/2" thick wood with the kreg jig. The proper screws would not go down below the surface of the wood. Kreg developed the black one to work with 1/2" and thinner stock. i forget the name of it.

Jason , it is called a micro pocket drill guide  and it works great , JIM !!!

James and Jason, thats the problem I'm having. Thank you both for the help!

I ran into a similar situation this weekend while building a radiator cover with 1/2" slats.  I ran out and purchased the Kreg Mini Jig and it works like a champ.  It tells you in the directions that if you want to be able to fill or plug the pocket hole afterwards then you need to set your jig to 1/2" but your bit to 5/8" and use a .75" screw.  I did this and had good results but it will leave the exit hole offset from center and I didn't feel like I had a good joint so I swithced back to 1/2" setting all around with 1" screws.  This worked perfect for joining 1/2" to 3/4" and all the holes are on the back side of the piece so I'm not worried about them.

Thanks James, I knew it was something like that!

You're welcome Jerome!

Michael that was great information. This is a great site, so much information. I just picked up the micro. Not looking forward to redoing my last project but you gotta do what you gotta do. Thanks all!

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
