Kreg Owners' Community

Hey everyone, I thought I'd let you know that all General Tools pocket hole screws and accessories are on clearance at Home Depot. I got everything in the pic below for $11! The 100 count boxes of 1¼" are down to $1.60 and the #2 square drive extensions are only $1.40. I wiped out all the screws and bought an extra extension set. YMMV (Your mileage might vary).

Seems like it doesn't it.  I was hoping they would restock the 2 close to my house but they have not to date.

I dont think they'll be restocked. They're on clearance so they won't be carried anymore. Get them while you can. I managed to get 15 or 16 boxes between the 4 Home Depots in my area (a 40 mile range)

Good news, in the same section you should be seeing 4 of our most popular Kreg Screws and K4 in all Home Depot stores by the end of October!

I saw the sale and bought the 2 length square drive set for $1.40.  I wondered about the screws though.

Is this brand OK? No problem with breaking while being torqued down?

I suspect you will likely strip the wood out before breaking the screw. I've used them in a pinch when no one within a reasonable driving distance carried the length I needed and had no issues. I don't care much for the nickle plating on the General drivers as it will flake off. Not a big issue, more cosmetic than anything. For $1.40 I would be able to live with it. I don't find the Kreg drivers all that special either, prefer the Milwaukee shock wave.

Thanks for the reply.

The general tools square drivers are the only ones I have used and they worked just fine for me.

Thanks for the info, Nick.  I just cleaned out my closest HD stock. Only had 1-1/4 Fine and Coarse, 1,300 screws for $20. inc our taxes!  I think I am set  for a while.

Yeah, all they stock are the 1-1/4 size in fine and coarse

Just stopped by the depot on the way home for lunch and got 300 fine and 300 coarse screws. Great deal and thanks for the heads up! Think they were 1.60 a box.

As part of the HD clearance of General Products, I picked up the General portable drill press gadget as well.

HD had it for only $14.  Regularly $40.  Looks like a well made little jig complete with it's own chuck, drill stop and a narrow stock clamp.  You can drill at set angles and attach you own drill motor.  Anyone used one of these?

Is HD clearing out ALL General Products? They have some great tools other than their pocket hole stuff. I've got one of their digital metric-decimal-fractional calipers that is great. Gonna have to hit there tommorrow. I haven't been drawn in for the pocket screws as I already have a fair supply and tend to use fewer when I do use them.

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
