David, this looks like the product known as "Corian" counter top materaial.  It was made by "Dupont"  It is often called solid surface and popular as it is cheaper than granite.  Scratches and defects can be sanded out and repaired leaving no visable seams or repairs.  I have used it in high end cabinets in several homes.  At one time it was controlled by the distributors whom would not sell it to anyone that was not  trained on its installation.  It in now being offered for sale at places like Home Depot and other home improvement stores.

It makes excellent counter tops for things like bath room vanities or where water is likely to be spilled on the surface.

If it is what it appears to be and has no defects in it, it is worth a good amount of money.

Corian cool I have been running across this in the dumpser in all kinds of colors and never thought about it in tell I seen you all working with granite and title's why cant I use this for for the center pace on my night stands and smaller dresser's but can I run this throw the table saw and can I use a kreg jig on it.

David I have cut it with a carbide saw blade and also used pocket screws using the kreg jig on it.  You have to feed it through a sharp blade as it will have a tendacy to burn if fed through a dull blade or a slow feed rate.

It will make some excellent top for tables and or dressers.  Like I say it is worth some money and you have found a gold mine if there is a quanity there.  Out here the going rate for a average kitchen counter top will be around 3 to 4 thousand dollars installed.  They also make sinks out of this and can be ordered as a one piece unit.  Most of the kitchens that are installed with corian have either the standard top mounted sink or a undermount system.

A couple years ago I remodeled a rotted out melamine kitchen sink cabinet that had a corian top mounted with a top mounted sink.  I cut the sink cabinet out from under the counter top and build a new cabinet under it.  I replaced the sink using a undermount and recut the sink opening rounding off the opening using large carbide round over bits in a 1/2 inch shank hand held router.  I used helicoils thread inserts to hang the mounting hardware to hold the sink in place.  I had no problems with it and the customer was pleased.  The customer is a nearby neighbor and I have seen the job a few times since I did it.

I would grab it while the grabbing is good.

One other thing do you think I can use my K-2 or do I have to get one of these micro jigs.

David, It will depend on the thickness of the material.  The thickness I  am aquainted with is about 5/8 to 3/4 inch thick.  I have bored the thicker stuff but normally use a method that does not require boring such as wood surround and or using silicone to stick it to a underlaying piece of wood,  You should skuff it up some with some rough sand paper before applying the silicone.

The micro jig is a nice tool.  I have one and like it for thin stock.  Bores nice and have no trouble with setting it up.

a diamond tiped blade on a grind will cut it too,,, i don't know about using a kregs jig on it,, but the way i use granite or marble on furniture is to attach wood strips on the bottom of the granite or stone with epoxey,, the strips fit on the inside frame of the peice you are working on and you can attach with screws or just leave it free if you have a tight fit and a little silicone,,, i use sink cut outs when i can get them off a job site,, sinks are so big now they make nice end tables and nightstands,,,,

Well it a 1/32 under a 1/2'' so do they have a micro jig made like the K-2 becuse I have seen the trouble poeple some of the folks are haveing with the blue one's.

No David not like the k-2.  I have the mini jig from Kreg and never had any trouble with it.  I use the k-2 like you have and it is the best they ever made.  I know that some have alot of trouble with the blue jigs but with the blue jig I have that I use in the field for installs  I never have any trouble with it either.  When I bought the mini jig I also bought a seperate holder and clamp with it.

Thanks Jay I geuss Ill have steve down at the hardware store to order me one i have some costumer's who love griante and I know they would love this.
