I don't see any projects for making dining room chairs using the Kreg tool. Why not?

Most craftsman will select a mortise & tenon or dowel joinery, in chair construction.

I'm sure someone will come along and build chairs with the Kreg pocket hole joinery method.

Chairs take lots of abuse---exposed to ''dynamic'' loading---twisting, turning, torquing, and the like.

A ''dynamic load'' is the forces that move or change when acting on a structure.

Screws will suffice when used in structures in ''static'' load.

A ''static'' load is the effect of gravity on an object or structure.

i have posted some pictures of some bar stools and ladder backed chairs i made,,,  the bottom supports were 3/4 dowd and glued and screwed and peged,,,   the appron was 3/8 dowd and glued and kreg jig to legs and the seat and all so screwed and peged,, also put cross braces in the corner for extra support after the seat tops went on,,, even a mortise & tenon joint can come apart with heavy abuses,,  one screw has 450 pounds rating,,, so if you use a dowd and glue and 3 screws in each joint, with just the screws that 1350 pounds of hold power plus the dowds and glue in each joint,,,   if you think using dowds is to hard you can buy a jig for that or just make one,,,  i can mortise & tenon my chairs but a person only want to spend so much for a chair cause mass production has made them so cheap,,   just click on my page and look at my pictures

Nice!

...and simple.

Looks easy to make.

yea,,  well you can alway change it up by making the back legs in a different design and either making the front legs shakers or even making a nice turned legs on the lathe.   people today just don't know how to think for them selfs they have to have a plan and a cut list, it kills me all these people ask me where i got the plan at,, and i just tell them i just built it and they don't know what to think,,

Thank you! This gives me hope! In the mean time I made my own riempie children dining room chair and will put it to the test! Hope you are able to see the pictures!

I deal with it all the time.

They're beginners---and don't know where to start or how to proceed.

Most don't know how to make projects without a plan---

nor make sketches or drawings.

It's all a learning process, and with some it takes a long time.

Most skilled tasks have are a long learning curve--

most just want to start building,

without knowing what needs to be done to accomplish the task---

and some don't have a clue.

More is learned, by doing---

one needs to learn the basics, before proceeding.

There are so many good books on wood working,

but most will not invest in them and take the time to read to learn---

they just want to start building.

One can't run without first learning how to walk.

Heiner,

Nice project you got there.

Looks like you put lots of thought into it, before proceeding.

Heiner,

Do you get your leather lace locally?

Nice material to work with.

I haven't seen that material used in a long time.

The Kreg jig is sure handy for making those chair joints.

Thanks for sharing.
