Thank you all! Christopher that's completely ok - have fun with it! I am constantly inspired by other people's projects I see online, I'm thrilled to be able to contribute.

I love it.  I've been looking at various designs for chicken coops, and I think I will model mine after yours  if that is ok.

Nice coop! I love the colors and the little extra touches, the chicken cutout in the door especially. You might want to check out www.backyardchickens.com They have a coop contest and lots of chicken talk.

I used the book 'building chicken coops for dummies' as a rough guide, but mostly made up the plans. The book did have a lot of useful information about dimensions for nesting, roosting, etc. It was supposed to be portable, the 'house' sits on the base and wasn't supposed to permanently attach. The weight of the 2x4s makes it too heavy to be portable, and after the paint the fit of the house over the base was too tight to ever take it off. So I ended up with a more permanent installation, plus I buried mesh underground to keep rats or racoons from digging in.

Great coop, Karen!  I would like to build something similar only I would like to make it portable.  Did you have plans to follow?  Thanks!!!
