Customer has the wood material....I will be supplying the labor to remove the old wood for a 20 x 16 foot deck, cart it off .  Then I will be installing the new wood with my deck jig....Anyone have an idea a fair price to install....

What are you worth??? Id say no less than $30.00 or more an hour. Screws are expensive and your time to haul off and pay  to dump it is costly unless you can have out door burning where I am at
Hi Darlene - the market generally sets the price. Find out about how much it is costing in your area to have a similar deck built. From that, you would add some amount for dismantling and disposing of the old deck and subtract the cost of the materials the customer is providing. Since you will be using the deck jig, I would add a premium for hidden fasteners.

Thanks for your answer john....most folks in your area don't like to give pricing due to competition.  They generally will want to schedule an appointment to look over the job.  So, I was wondering about some sort of idea of a low to a high so I could price somewhere in the middle.

The materials the customer is providing is $2500.00 I was told.  I was figuring like you, a premium for hidden fasteners. Dismantling and carting away and then of course assembly.....about $1200.00 ...What do you think, does that sounds fair for both sides.  The deck is just a flat one 20 X 16.

Hi Darlene - I think you are in the ballpark. If you figure your time and tools at $30/hr that figures out to 40 hours for the job. Might even try at $1500. I think you will have all of 40 hours in it.

When I said to try and find out what the market was, I wasn't thinking in terms of calling the contractor. I was thinking of more covert means. Find a recently installed deck similar to the one you are planning.. admire it for awhile and casually ask the owner "about how much a thing like that cost?"

Good Luck

Thank you John, If I get the job I will post a photo of before and after and what I got for it as well as how long it took to complete..

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
