Ok another newbe question. I'm thinking of buying a router table, but I'm confused about the mounting of it. Will i need to drill the plate to fit my router or are there ones that will fit right out of the box? I have the Hatichi M12vc router.

Depends on which table/plate combinations you get. Rockler sells a plate predrilled for the vc. Their plates are 8-1/4 x  11-3/4 which fits the Rockler and, I think, the Benchdog tables. Woodhaven sells 9 -1/4 x 11-3/4 plates which they will drill for the vc for $15. The third most used size plate is 9 x12 which is sold by MLCS, Peachtree and others but I don't know of any predrilled for the vc. Some of the bigger vendors may do it for you at an additional charge. You would need to contact whoever directly about that service.

On a side note, I have the 2 base kit version of the vc and it would not be my first choice as a table router. I like it a lot for hand work though.

Think seriously about getting a router raiser with its own router motor.  Being able to change bits and adjust bit height from the top of the table will save a lot of time.  I have a Bench Dog Pro. Expensive, but I am sure glad I spend the money.  (My wife gave me a $100 gift certificate that ended up costing me $800 with the router lift, Rockler table, Incra fence adjuster, and router motor.)

If the router raiser isn't in your budget right now, be sure to put it on your Christmas wish list.

Of course, for $250 you can get a router with a built in lift

I like the router raiser idea, but I went with a Milwaukee 3 1/2 hp router that can be raised/lowered from above the table with a "t" wrench that was included.  I have some photos on my page of the router table that I built.  Would save you some dough.
The Rockler has predrilled but multiple on each plate they go by letter a-d you need to find your router
and which letter.
