Mushroom Stool

In March 2011 I made this stool from Pallet Material it was a experiment in making tapers and Hexagons. (Try Octagons!
Or more correct collectively Polygons.

The original construction was held together with Kreg Pocket holes and Polyeurethane Glue, the glue was used as the stool was outside and to simply to fill voids.

The top was biscuit jointed glued then screwed directly into the base. You can see there are no pocket holes in the top by the visible gaps in the joints, Kreg screws would avoid this.
I recessed the screws fixing the top to the base and then plugged the holes for weather proofing.

So why so slow posting?
Well it was a suggestion from Jay after I posted a teaser to a request for information.

Upon following up on Jay's post a quick check found that I had never posted it so here is my contribution for consideration.

You can have fun with compound angles recycled Materials (pallet Wood) and the Kreg Jig.

Robert thank you for posting as this is just another great example of what is possible using your imagination and a kreg jig to aid your work.   Any time someone can build something using angles that result in a successful venture it is something of worth celebration and sharing.  This is especially true as this not done with just an angle but is also a tapered or compound angles adding to the complications in joining the pieces.  I think this worth exploring as you seldom see this sort of work posted on the community and hopefully it will stir up some ideas with someone.

I have build many circular columns using the kreg jig but never one with that has compound angles such as a tapered column.  All the tapered columns that I have made is done using a "birds mouth bit. and glue.   These were for such things as support posts for roofs on porches and such things as a two part (split) where you need something other that common square wrap around skirt to hide steel support post in heavy constructions.  I have used tapered columns as supports under bars in cabinet construction and such.   I am anxious to try Robert's method using the kreg jig for a tapered column.

Thank you for posting and I can imagine the idea being used in gardens making stools and other décor for out door living .
