Thanks Joe. Beautiful table that will become, I'm sure, a family heirloom. Great job!

Jan,  I switched to a corded drill after the first few holes for drilling the pocket holes as well both for the oak and for the pine.  100+ year old wood is much more dense and hard than pretty much anything that is available new today.  the only other thing that I'm experiencing is that I wish that someone would come out with plugs for the HD size holes.  I'm going to try making my own from dowel stock, so we'll see how that goes.

Hi Joe, Very Nice.  I am making a 2ftx8ft work bence from the Shanty2Chic plan using reclaimed 2x6 Oak, Maple and dense Yellow Pine. Using Kreg HD jig also as well as HD 2.5 screws. Have you experienced any diffuculty either drilling the pocket holes or driving the screws in into the hardwood?  I have but muscled my way thru it. I switched to a corded drill because was running thru battery life very quickly.

Base is reclaimed 2x5 true size oak boards from a barn.  Top is a 10x10 beam that was sliced into 2 1/2 inch slabs and then planed smooth.  the whole table weighs about 300+ pounds but probably will outlast me.  There will be about 200+ HD screws holding the entire project together.  Next project is making an island of the same design.

New Kreg 720Pro

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
