Is the Kreg Drawer slide jig worth the money or is the Rockler slide jig better?

Thanks.

Duane ,
Although I have not used the tickler drawer slide jig I have seen it. Although I think either would work I chose to go with the Kreg. And let me tell you I have not been disappointed. I have used it several times with much success!!! The only issues is that with the Kreg style you need to have the Kreg clamps to go with it. Two of them to be precise. That way you don’t have to take of one side so you can clamp on the other side. I myself own two of the autoclamp style which again makes things that much easier. But they are not cheap. Just something to take into consideration. In the end the Kreg system will be much more expensive. But if you already have the clamps I would go for the Kreg no questions asked.

Luke

Thanks Luke! I already have the Kreg clamps and have ordered the jig.

What I found interesting about the Rockler product was the clamping mechanism to hold the drawer slide.

I recently happened into the local Rockler store and saw the mounting jig was on sale.

Luckily I paused for a moment to go read the on-line reviews. Many of the users said that the jig was constantly dropping the glide and a way to avoid that was to put a strong magnet on the side of the jig.

Guess what, that's exactly what the original style Kreg mounting jig already has!

I now also have the new versions of the Kreg slide mounting jig(s) and find that they work quite well.

Just glad I saved myself from spending the $$ on the Rockler jig (kudos to the user reviews! :))

I bought the Kreg. Simply because sometimes things just don't need to be complicated.

As for clamps Harbor Freight will see you the clamps with the round jaw pads. They aren't auto adjusting but then again once you set the clamp its set. Most probably set every slide before moving on to something else. At least I do.
