yet another jig/drill setting question for different thickness woods

I'm making a lumber cart and I need to drill holes in a 3/4 piece of vertical plywood that will then be used to attach a "lid" of 1/2 inch plywood to create a top.

So...

Jig setting vs. drill depth guide setting?

Screw size to use?

I would think I would set the Jig for 3/4 but not sure what the drill depth guide would be set for. and then whether I would use 1" or 1.25" screws.

Thoughts?

I've seen some of the charts but I keep rethinking things because they only reference the ji, not the drill depth guide.

Thanks!

Todd,

When working with two different thicknesses the general rule of thumb is to set everything for the thinner thickness and use the corresponding screw.  For example, in your situation you will want to use the 1/2" settings and then use a 1" screw.  Do be careful when working with plywood to not overdrive your screw as this material will be undersized and not a true 1/2" thick.  If you have any other questions please let us know.
