Kreg Owners' Community

Good day all,

Just picked up the K5 setup this weekend.  Starting my skill building.  First thing I thought I'd try is making a hanging display for my Challenge Coin collection.

Looking for recommendations, plans or hints to begin this project.

Right now I'm thinking on a simple 2" deep frame with 4 shelves about 2' wide.  I have a table saw, several sanders, a trim router table and powered miter saw so I think I should have the tooling to do most if not all of it.

What thickness wood do you plan to use?

Will it be painted?

Can the pocket holes be filled and visible?

Are the shelves fixed or adjustable

Simple butt joints seem like what you want.

Google "challenge coin display" and click on images to see some ideas.

Many of the people here look at things and figure how to build it and sketch accordingly. Hope you find this helpful.

I did a basic trial run.  This is a basic idea of what I am hoping to make.

Hi James. I'm sorry but I wouldn't use pocket screws for this myself. Dados on the table saw or with the router & an edge guide would be much cleaner IMO.

However,, you'll want the pockets on the top side of the upper shelves so they don't show when the cabinet is hung. Maybe on the underside of the lower shelves. You'll determine that once you get a final size & height on the wall. I would also drill the pockets in the top & bottom rather than the sides. They will be hidden that way.

does anyone have plans to build a the hanging challenge coin collection for about 100 coins?

Thanks

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
