I recently purchased my first bench top jig. I found a new K3 master system for $100.  I really like the front clamping lever and it was much less $ than the K5 system. Other than the storage compartments and the "quick change" clamping, is there much difference between the two ?  So....which do you prefer, K3, K4, or K5 ?

I didn't realize there was a K3 MS.  I've never seen one.

I like the K5MS because the vacuum port swivels and the front operating lever.  The storage is a bonus.

Unfortunately, I have the K4 MS - Fixed port and lever is behind the work piece.  Difficult when working with large work pieces.

I wonder if the swivel vacuum port from the K5 would fit on the K3/K4 ?

If I was just starting, I would get the K5. As mentioned, it's more "flexible" than the earlier jigs. I'm still using my K2000 jig. No vacuum port but it still works very well and I will continue to use until it falls apart.

I have several Kreg pocket hole drilling jigs.

The K3 Master, had the K4 (prefer the K3 with the handle at the front),

the R3, the mini, the micro, HD jig and the Foreman.

Each have specific uses and useful for their intended purpose---

either building and/or repairing products.

As well as a variety of several associated clamps.

The Kreg pocket hole drilling jigs are the best since the invention of slicing bread.

I personally prefer the clamp on the front side, as in a K3 & K5.

The K4 has the clamping lever on the back side---difficult to ready access when working with larger panels.

I prefer the adjustable clamping pressure that can be achieved on the K3 and K4.

Dust vac port is a big plus when drilling lots of holes.

I have the K5 and very happy with it. I built a box and mounted it on top of the box with a drawer underneath to store the Kreg clamps etc. Very handy, when I need to do pocket hole joinery I just get out the box set it on the bench and get started!
