We are currently building 8 sliding drawer/shelves for the lower cabinets in our kitchen.  It is a starting point before we totally remodel our kitchen.  It will take some time since money is definitely on short supply, lol.

The products we are using for the drawer sides are poplar and already had a 1/4" dado in it.  We actually made the dado 1/2" for the birch plywood bottoms.  We are giving it three clear coats of polyurethane to add some protection to the wood.

The drawers will easily transfer to the new cabinets when we build them and 4 of them will eventually make their way into the garage/woodshop cabinets for better organization there.

We need to agree on what type of flooring we want before we can rebuild the kitchen since the flooring needs to go in first.  Hubby wants wood throughout the house and I don't.  I am not happy about having wood flooring in my kitchen, but the dining room and living room are an open space with the kitchen connected of course.  Using two different kinds of flooring from the dining room to the kitchen would look very strange because of the room design.

I built slide out drawers as part of my kitchen remodeling project.  My wife loves them.  My project was featured on the Black & Decker bulletin board in Times Square.

How neat that is Dutch, I am sure I will enjoy my new drawers.  We have only installed two of them and already I am happy with the results.  We have enough long clamps to handle one drawer at a time so the going is slow but tomorrow I may be able to have two more installed.

I put in 6 total.  Even one under the sink.  On the kitchen cabinet project I built 31 new doors and 11 new upper cabinets.  Glass doors in the 11 new uppers with lights.  All the other doors were frame and panel with bead board inserts.  Made all new drawer fronts too.  It was a fun project and it saved me a ton of money over someone else doing it.

Sounds like a really nice kitchen.  We plan on some glass doors too on the uppers but our kitchen is very small and the 8 drawers fill up our 4 large lower cabinets very well leaving us 3 12" cabinets.  The new kitchen will be much better planned and the smallest cabinet will possibly be 18" but hopefully not smaller than 24" because I don't like small cabinets.

Four drawer/shelves down and four to go.  I am so pleased with the organization these drawers have provided me.  We are switching it up too, my pots and pans will now be in the upper cabinets with the lower cabinet having two drawer/shelves in it.  This provides far more storage for me, it's amazing.

Here's a little something I did too.

Great idea for those utensils.  The cabinet I have mine in isn't well suited for doing that but it is in the new plans when we build our own.

Hi  Dutch , your  kitchen remodel  job sounds   interesting , would love to see some pics. of your project , JIM !!

OK you asked for it.  :-)  Poplar rails & stiles with bead board inserts

Dutch , very nice thank,s for sharing , JIM !!

You're welcome it was a fun project for me.  My house was built in 1888 and I've had a lot of projects over the 20+ years we've lived here.  Here's a before and after picture.  The only recent change is the metal roof we had put on last year.  It had stucco on it when we moved in.  Took me 6 months to get it all knocked off.  Took out the knob and tube and re-wired everything.  Insulated it. New gas lines, new plumbing and 2 new bathrooms.  Luckily I've taught myself how to do all that. The only things I had others do were the siding and the blown in insulation and of course the new roof.

Nice house Dutch ,that roof with all those angles looks a challenge .
