I'm building a 2x4 bench, but would like to add one more 2x4 in front of the one that is there (i.e. 4" face to 4" face). This extra 2x4 will have no structural duties. My question is, where can I attach it and not see the pocket holes from the top or face? The attachment surfaces available are the two ends (2x4 arms there), bottom arms, 2x4 seat support, or from behind. Can you "face nail" with pocket holes?
Sample of what I built: http://woodtalkonline.com/uploads/monthly_02_2013/post-7772-0-63844900-1361228332.jpg.
I added 2x4s under the seat, going front to back. The 2x4 I want to add is at the very front of the seat, going left to right between the arm/leg assembly.

Hey woofdawg,
If I have this right (I'm thinking you want to add another 2x4 in front of the existing one) I would glue/screw from behind. Drill pilot holes through the existing 2x4 clamp the new one to it and drive 2-1/2" wood screws from behind. While pocket hole joinery is great, I don't see how it would work in this situation.
Don
ok that was plan B think I'll go with that.
thanks

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.
I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.
First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
