We use shingles here in the good ol USA that are "metric" yet when I measure them they always seem to end up being 39 1/2 inches long by 13 1/4 inches tall. I had to learn the mm/cm in school & hated every minute of it. I'm so glad I learned the Imperial system. I wouldn't have it any other way.

I wonder if I give Carbatec their imperial system back if Kreg would send me a metric system. Maybe to confusing for Carbatec. I have read that there are conversion charts to which I agree but then there is a greater chance of mistakes being made and if it's available why can't we get it as all timber is metric. I now have to buy measuring instruments in imperial etc which just adds to the cost. Maybe it's the secret of increasing sales. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

I have a rule that has both imperial and metric measures. NZ started metrification in 1969....so I am old enough to remember it and be comfortable with either. You do need to be careful mixing imperial screws with metric timbers (to avoid punch through). I got my system from the US.

Hi Roger. I support your comments and feel your pain. The challenge you have happens many times in Aus. I have METRINCH spanners for that reason. If our hardware stores would simply stop selling non metric stock it would be a win for all!
The work around is simply to use an app to conversions- but when the timber is metric that's a pain!
Hopefully Carbatec will listen. The Kreg stuff is really great!

Reading that Kreg has a MM system I am disappointed Carbatec. You sent me an imperial set. Can't you guys get something spot on. Why on earth do we have to find out via America Kreg that a metric system is available. A comment from you would be great. Be interesting to see what you say. You charge enough for your products to be able to spend a few moments on research.

Reminds me of the "not for U.S. use " mustang I had. Since it was ordered in Panama, it came with the big numbers in Kilos on speedometer. Woo Hoo, wide open, the speedo went past "160"!

Its true that Kreg is based on the imperial system but in all honesty its not all that difficult to figure once you use the system often enough!

Congratulations, lets see a post real soon !!

Did you need to send the imperial unit back to Kreg?

I shall have to go work on Carbatec now with their imperial Incra Products.

Are Carbatec the only importers ? we need some more competition!! maybe the "new" Masters will give them a hurry up price and product wise ...... Masters certainly fixed the Titebond Glue prices ...for a while!!
